Rewind seven months, it was September, fall was setting in, and the company I work for had just made a new hire and it was a girl. I was less than pleased to say the least (I much prefer the low maintenance nature of the male species). However, I was quickly won over by said new hire and the natural order of the bullpen was swiftly restored. BJC, better known as Becca Jane Chuckney, is one of the coolest chicks I know and a dear friend, and I was honored when she and Joe Dewey (fiancé extraordinaire) asked me to shoot their engagement session.
Becca and Joe had a few locations in mind, which was very helpful and took some of the pressure off of me. We started out at “dear Ole UVA” (University of Virginia) where the couple first met, we then headed west of town to Oakencroft Vineyard, the site of many picnics for the pair and, the big proposal!
Things started out slow, even rigid, but once we headed to the county and to familiar territory, the awkwardness vanished and Becca and Joe’s true personalities began to shine! Their relationship is genuine, their smiles infectious and their interactions carefree, in the moment, and undeniably in love!
Without prompting, Becca and Joe jumped on and off fences, climbed trees, played in fields, and did some creative bike riding. I feel lucky (and proud), to be able to share photos that make me happy and instantly smile, in my first ever blog post!
Thank you Becca and Joe for choosing me to capture your love, and for indulging me in my experimental vintage bike photo shoot!
Becca, you’re going to be a stunning bride, I can hardly wait for June 6th!
